What
is Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)?
Portable Appliance Testing is the
means by which an employer may prove he has maintained
his electrical equipment in a safe manner in compliance
with legislative requirements.
A Code of Practice has been
issued by the Institute of Electrical Engineers that
advises on the method and frequency of testing requirements.
Safety

Code of Practice.
The term “Portable
Appliance” refers broadly to any equipment exceeding
50 volts powered by means of a plug and socket. There
are additions / exceptions to this broad rule and we
